Treatment Foster-Care Parents are men and women, 25 years of age or older who provide intensive treatment and support services in their home on a full-time basis to children and adolescences who have severe emotional and behavioral disorders often stemming from abuse and neglect. The goal of a Treatment parent is to provide a warm, stable, nurturing environment coupled with the therapeutic intervention needed to treat and prepare a child for return to his or her biological or extended family, or for transition to the least restrictive appropriate setting. Each Treatment Parent becomes part of a multi-disciplinary treatment team, led by a coordinator. The coordinator works with the foster parent(s), biological family, psychologists, psychiatrists, pediatricians and other behavioral and medical specialists as necessary to meet the child's individualized treatment plan.
